Monthly Meeting

September 12

I hope you have all had good summer breaks as it is time to get back to business. The AmCham Monthly Meetings begin again on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Warsaw Marriott Hotel (Bałtyk Room).

In September our guest-speaker will be Mr. Leszek Skiba, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance.

One of the fundamental tasks of the Ministry of Finance is preparation, execution and control over the implementation of the state budget. The Ministry deals with the financing system for local governments, the budget zone and state security, and manages the public debt. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the domestic tax system, as well as for financial cooperation with foreign countries and implementation of provisions regarding customs and treasury control.

In the context of the Ministry’s tasks, we would like to hear from Undersecretary Skiba about current initiatives important for foreign investors in Poland, as well as the challenges that the Ministry will face in the coming months. In particular, we are going to discuss topics related to the stability of the Polish tax system, mechanisms to improve tax collection, new fiscal burdens for certain sectors, tax policies supporting economic development, as well as support instruments for new investments and reinvestments in Poland.

We look forward to this opportunity to meet with Undersecretary Skiba to discuss his agenda vis-à-vis the priorities of the business community increasing the pace of the Polish economy.
