With the summer essentially behind us, we launch into September with a resolve to get back to business in the new realities of an on-going pandemic. The AmCham Poland staff is meeting in the office on a regular basis and we are planning our first meetings for members with options to attend in person or to join remotely.
With that, we invite you to our September Monthly Meeting on Wednesday, September 9 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel, Ballroom ABC. Those attending the meeting should wear masks and maintain social distance. The wonderful Marriott breakfast will be served by hotel staff.
To help us get a grasp on what the new economic realities are, we have invited guest speakers: Mr. Piotr Arak, the Director of the Polish Economic Institute; Dr. Sławomir Dudek, the Chief Economist at the Employers of Poland (Pracodawcy RP); and Mr. Piotr Kalisz, Chief Economist at Citi Handlowy. The discussion will be moderated, as usual, by Mr. Tony Housh, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland.
The meeting will be in the form of a panel discussion and dedicated to the topic: "The effects of COVID-19 on the Polish economy". During the discussion the panelists shall refer to the new realities for business in a pandemic with special attention to new trade and investments routes in Europe and in the world, including the climate for foreign capital in Poland. The main question concerns whether Poland will be able to maintain its competitiveness in the long-term and continue to use FDI as an external source of investment capital for social and economic development in the future.
