The AmCham Diner at the European Economic Congress in Katowice – May 18-20, 2016 at the Krynica Economic Forum – September 6-8, 2016
The AmCham Diner will be back at the two largest economic events in Poland – in Katowice and Krynica. The AmCham Diner is not only a popular meeting place, it also exemplifies the scope and importance of American investment in Poland. This project has the largest impact in terms of topics covered and in the dialogue between business and government.
We are pleased to announce the ninth edition of the American Chamber of Commerce Student Essay Contest, with a grand prize of $500 USD for the best essay, and 3 runners-up with prizes of $150 USD each. The contest is open to high school students affiliated with your companies. Each member company must choose one essay and submit it to AmCham to compete for the grand prize. This contest is open only to nominations from AmCham members.
The essays will be judged by an Awards Committee made up of Board of Directors and AmCham Members. The winner will be invited to our Annual General Meeting on December 10, 2015 at the Warsaw Marriott Hotel to read their essay.
Rules and details are attached. Deadline for submission to AmCham is Monday, November 23, 2015.

For the 20th consecutive year, we are organizing the AmCham Charity Drive to help children from 8 orphanages across the country and one single mothers' shelter in Słomczyn. All gifts are welcome, however, as these organizations struggle for everyday items, we encourage you to read the list below before making a decision on your donation. Please note that the single mothers’ shelter primarily needs fundamental articles, especially clothing and shoes for the winter. The items in bold are ones that are needed most.
In order to deliver the goods for Christmas we must receive them by Monday, December 7that the AmCham office, located on Emilii Plater 53, 19h floor, 00-113 Warszawa. We are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The presence of American investors in Poland contributed to the economic development of our country and contributes to stability and economic security. American companies honored by the Polish Minister of Economy invested billions in Poland
June 29th. 16 member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (AmCham) have been awarded Honorary Medals of Merit for Economic Development of the Republic of Poland. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Janusz Piechociński, granted State decorations for outstanding achievements in the field of innovation, industry promotion, research, development and introduction of effective methods of management.
Among the awarded companies were global corporations such as 3M, P&G, McDonald's, CH2M, Coca-Cola, Enterprise Investors, GE, General Motors, Google, IBM, International Paper, Lynka, Marriott, Mars, Motorola Solutions and UPC Poland. These 16 companies had a major impact on Polish economic transformation and invested over 26 billion zlotys and employ more than 48 thousand employees.
Granting Medals of Merit for the Development of the Economy by the Minister of Economy emphasizes the large impact of American investors on Polish development. Investors from the other side of the Atlantic were among the first to transform the Polish market after 1989.
Most of the honored companies have been operating and developing on the Polish market for over 25 years. During this time, they have invested billions of dollars in the Polish economy – said Tony Housh, Chairman of American Chamber of Commerce in Poland. As companies, they represent a wide range of sectors that show the diversity of American investment.What they share in common is a commitment to this market, their employees, best practices and making a positive impact on Polish society.
During the event, in addition to the 16 representatives of AmCham member companies, also present were the US Ambassador to Poland, Stephen D. Mull; Chairman of AmCham, Tony Housh, and representatives of government and numerous guests. They emphasized the importance of Polish – American relations and partnership in the field of economy and investment. Americans are one of the most dynamic groups of foreign investors in Poland. They brought to Poland not only capital, but also knowledge which enables the development of commerce in the country.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Janusz Piechocinski stressed that Poland is grateful to those who participated in the economic transformation. - The presence of American investors in Poland contributed to the economic development of our country and contributes to stability and economic security - he added.
The Medals have been awarded since December 2014. Distinction awarded by the Minister of Economy honors individuals, companies and institutions active in the field of economy, making significant contributions to its development.
The new medal is intended to highlight the outstanding achievements in the area of innovation, promotion of Polish industry, implementation of new technologies, research, development and introduction of effective methods of management. In February this year, among honored institutions was the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland was for the first time the official partner of the European Congress in Katowice.
AmCham held its “AmCham Diner” that from the first day of the Congress became the most popular and most unique meeting place offering coffee, drinks, cakes and, all in a very American atmosphere.
It was not only a great place for meetings and discussions for the participants of the Congress, but also offering interviews with leading representatives of business and government. Since 1995 AmCham Poland has managed to raise over 187,000.00 PLN in its charity drive.
AmCham and its Foundation has had charitable endeavors since 1995. The total amount of money raised and distributed by the Foundation is 187,085.76 PLN.
In sum over a 19 year period the AmCham Charity Drive delivered goods to nine orphanages and two family shelters. We transported over 1500 cartons of goods to the children from all over Poland and helped more than 1000 children.
Citi Handlowy, General Electric and United Technologies Named Impact Pioneers at AmCham's 25th Anniversary Gala
During AmCham's 25th Anniversary Gala, three Impact Pioneers were recognized: Citi Handlowy, General Electric and United Technologies. Citi Handlowy dynamically entered Polish market and till this day is perceived as a symbol of American investment in Poland. The General Electric Company, which has been working on the Polish market since 1992, continues to increase its activity in Poland and is responsible for employing almost 10,000 people. UTC is a company that has played a key role in the development of the modern Polish aviation industry and created the Aviation Valley in south-eastern Poland.
Polish government awards Amcham the Honorary Badge of Merit for the Economic Development of the Republic of Poland.
Investors from the U.S. have brought to our country not only capital and know-how, but also a modern business model, close to our own entrepreneurs - said Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechociński during the ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland. The ceremony took place on 14 February 2015 in Warsaw.
Recognizing the contribution of the American Chamber of Commerce and its members in the economic development of the country, Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechociński awarded Chairman Tony Housh the Honorary Badge of Merit for the Economic Development of the Republic of Poland.

On December 8, 2014, the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland held its Annual General Meeting & Christmas Reception at the Regent Hotel in Warsaw. The business portion of our evening included the Auditor’s Report and the Annual Report, approved by a quorum of members, which we attach for your review. Highlights of the evening included an address by Ambassador Stephen Mull, a speech by Professor Leszek Balcerowicz, our student essay contest winners, and the election of a new Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 term.

The visit to Poland of U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, along with several CEO's from corporate America, with AmCham Poland was an important and symbolic event for Poland as the country begins its next chapter of economic development. Secretary Pritzker noted the great accomplishments of Poland, but that there is still much work to be done strengthening economic ties between Poland and the United States. AmCham's work on TTIP and industry issues is our attempt to move Poland forward and to strengthen these ties.

On September 30, 2014 Marta Pawlak, AmCham's legal counsel, together with other experts from the business and public sectors, participated in a debate on the Public Procurement Law. The debate was organized by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and the British Polish Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the debate was to review barriers faced by entrepreneurs that are related to the Public Procurement Law and to discuss current changes to the law.

For the tenth consecutive year, over 900 managers of the largest companies in Lower Silesia, local authorities and diplomatic corps gathered on Friday, 12th of September in the courtyard of the Arsenal Museum in Wroclaw to celebrate the International Oktoberfest – a renowned beer festival organized annually by the international chambers of commerce operating in Wrocław (American Chamber of Commerce, British Polish Chamber of Commerce, German Polish Chamber of Commerce in Poland with support of the Irish Chamber of Commerce, Netherlands-Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Scandinavian-Polish Chamber of Commerce).
We have had the pleasure to welcome Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Poland Robin Barnett, US Consul General in Krakow Ellen Germain, Consul General of Germany in Wroclaw Elisabeth Wolbers, Deputy Ambassador of Ireland Padraig Francis. This business mixer has definitely become one of the main international business events in Wroclaw and is a must-do for top management representatives of the Chambers’ member companies and international companies doing business in the Lower Silesia.

AmCham Gdańsk has organized a meeting with Mr. Peter Chase, Vice-President for Europe at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. (location TBC).
Mr. Chase will speak about the work of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce office in Brussels, will comment on recent developments in the EU, and will particularly speak about the status and hopes for TTIP (the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership).
