Two New Partner Promotions at CMS

At the beginning of May 2019, Łukasz Dynysiuk from the Tax Group and Marek Oleksyn from the IP/TMC Group became partners at CMS.

Łukasz Dynysiuk, advocate and doctor of law, specialises in Commercial and Tax Law. He has provided assistance to Polish and foreign companies on tax planning, developing effective tax structures, restructuring, as well as tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions for over 12 years. Among other things, he advised on the high-profile acquisition of the Żabka Polska chain of supermarkets by CVC Capital Partners from Mid Europa Partners. Łukasz also has extensive experience in providing advisory services for the financial sector including mBank, PKO BP S.A. or Pramerica. He has recently advised mBank on the establishment of a corporate venture capital fund, the first and largest fund of this type in the CEE aimed at developing and commercialising new technologies in the financial sector. He has advised clients from the oil and gas sector on such strategic projects as the acquisition and transportation of an oil platform, exploration of shale gas or developing a structure of trading in oil tankers. His experience also includes advising on tax matters related to locating foreign investments in Poland and the CEE region including investments of the Egger Group of over PLN 1 billion. As a partner he will continue developing the legal and tax advisory services and will specifically focus on developing transactional advisory services as part of the tax group.

Łukasz Dynysiuk holds lectures on Tax Law in merger and acquisition transactions at the Warsaw School of Economics. He is recommended by Legal 500 in Tax Law.

Marek Oleksyn, legal counsel with over 15 years of experience in IP Law including the protection of trademarks, patents, designs and copyrights and counteracting unfair competition.

For many years, he has been representing clients in court proceedings related to the protection of intellectual property and counteracting unfair competition, contentious proceedings before the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and arbitration proceedings. Marek Oleksyn also deals with matters related to the acquisition and licensing of intellectual property, research and development works as well as the development and implementation of new technologies. His experience also includes issues related to works created by employees.

Marek Oleksyn provides advisory services to clients from many sectors of the economy, including the food, financial services, chemical, IT, automotive, construction materials and medical diagnosis sector.

As a partner, he will continue supporting the development of the IP Group at CMS Warsaw, both with respect to the contentious, transactional and ongoing advisory aspects.

Marek Oleksyn is the author of numerous publications related to the protection of intellectual property. He holds lectures at the Lazarski University in Warsaw, including MBA in Energy Studies and Law in Business and New Technologies postgraduate studies. He is recommended by Chambers Europe, Legal 500 and WTR 1000 in IP Law.
