The AmCham HR Committee met on January 13 to discuss the most pressing issues and topics HR leaders will face in 2026. Małgorzata Grzelak and Luiza Luranc, in both roles (as Co-Chairs and speakers), led us through upcoming changes to Polish employment law and emerging trends that will impact job seekers, employers, and the overall workforce. The main conclusions from the meeting indicate that Poland’s labor market outlook for early 2026 is positive, with more employers planning hires than layoffs, and most active recruitment in the automotive, finance & insurance, trade & logistics, and hospitality and tourism sectors. Candidates’ perceptions of the labor market indicate that pay transparency is a top priority for employees. As many as 71 respondents support full pay transparency, and an overwhelming 92% expect salary ranges to be disclosed already at the recruitment stage. A friendly work environment ranks highest when employees are asked what they enjoy most about their jobs. This is followed by a scope of responsibilities that matches their skills and the possibility to work remotely or in a hybrid model. Interestingly, a salary that meets expectations ranks only fourth, suggesting that pay alone is not the primary driver of job satisfaction. When asked what could make their workplace more appealing, employees place benefits at the top of the list. Finally, almost two-thirds of respondents express a positive attitude toward a four-day workweek. While support remains high, this represents a slight decline compared to last year, indicating a more cautious approach to alternative work models. The meeting also covered upcoming legal changes related to employment and recruitment, including the implementation status of the Pay Transparency Directive, new regulations concerning collective labor agreements and other agreements with trade unions, planned regulations on workplace bullying and sick leaves and new powers of the National Labor Inspectorate regarding the reclassification of freelancers into employees.
