EVENT DETAILS
On April 14, the AmCham HR Committee met to discuss Sick Leave Reform – What Employers Needed to Know. The session focused on upcoming changes to Poland’s sick leave framework and how organizations could prepare for new expectations affecting both employers and employees.
The discussion explored the rationale behind the reforms, their practical impact, and the growing challenge of the rising number of psychiatric sick leave notes. Participants also considered how HR leaders and companies could balance compliance requirements with employee well-being.
Attendees emphasized that a healthy company culture played a key role in reducing burnout, preventing the spread of illness, and lowering absenteeism. They noted that while legal compliance remained important, trust, empathetic management, and clear policies were essential to creating a sustainable and productive workplace. At the same time, toxic culture, poor management, and ineffective policies were identified as major drivers of absenteeism, with significant consequences for productivity and engagement.
