EVENT DETAILS
On behalf of the AmCham HR Committee, we invite you to a meeting entitled Sick Leave Reform: What Employers Need to Know.
In light of the evolving regulatory landscape, our next meeting will place a spotlight on upcoming changes to Poland’s sick leave framework, with key provisions taking effect in April 2026 and January 2027. As these reforms introduce new expectations for both employers and employees, the session will provide an opportunity to better understand the rationale behind the changes, anticipate their practical impact, and consider how organizations can adapt their policies, communication, and support mechanisms. With sick leave already a complex and sensitive area – particularly given the surge in psychiatric sick notes – this discussion aims to help HR and people leaders navigate the transition with a focus on both compliance and employee wellbeing.
Our speaker will be Katarzyna Witkowska-Pertkiewicz, an attorney at law from Squire Patton Boggs and we will discuss:
- New rules governing the use of sick notes and the scope of permitted employee activity during sick leave;
- Whether the new regulations are likely to improve verification of questionable sick notes and help prevent misuse;
- A practical list of dos and don’ts for employers;
- The growing challenge posed by the rising number of psychiatric sick leave notes.
We will also explore how organizations can adapt – through work organization, team management, and employee support systems – to reduce absenteeism while strengthening employee wellbeing.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We encourage you to visit the AmCham office, Spektrum, ul. Twarda 18, 16th floor (live tickets are limited to 25 people; for those registering live, please click the live ticket). The Webex link will be sent to all online attendees one day before the event.
