EVENT DETAILS
This Wednesday, we hosted our September Monthly Meeting focused on migration in Poland and its role in the country’s economic development.
We were pleased to welcome Marcin Kierwiński, Minister of the Interior and Administration (Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji), for a conversation with Marta Poslad, AmCham Chairwoman. Their discussion highlighted the importance of legal and well-managed labor migration in addressing workforce shortages, attracting talent, and supporting investment in Poland. Minister Kierwiński also addressed the role of security in migration policy and ongoing efforts to digitalize and streamline administrative procedures.
The meeting also featured the presentation of key findings from the report “Migration in Poland: Facts, Impact, and Directions for Action,” presented by Joanna Świerzyńska, President of the Management Board of Deloitte Poland and Managing Partner of Deloitte in Poland, the Baltics and Ukraine.
This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Aleksander Laszek, PhD, Senior Manager & Leader of Economic Analysis Team, Deloitte Poland, bringing together Kamil Kisiel, Deputy Director, Department of International Affairs and Migration, Ministry of the Interior and Administration; Marta Drobisz, Head of Legal, ManpowerGroup Poland; Anna Papka, Impact Director, McDonald’s Polska; and Karolina Schiffter, Managing Partner, Fragomen.
A key message from the meeting was that security and effective legal migration can go hand in hand. Our panelists also emphasized the importance of a long-term perspective, as changes to migration policy and administration will have effects on Poland’s labor market and economy over the coming years.
This meeting was also a special moment for our organization as we welcomed Grzegorz Lis as AmCham Poland’s new Executive Director. Grzegorz officially assumed his duties on September 16, and we look forward to him meeting and connecting with our members and the wider AmCham community.
At the same time, we said goodbye to Marzena Drela in her role as Executive and Operations Director of AmCham, thanking her for her dedicated service and leadership. We are very happy that Marzena will remain part of the company and continue working with us in a new capacity, ensuring that her experience and knowledge remain part of the AmCham community.
Thank you to Minister Marcin Kierwiński, our panelists, AmCham members, and all participants for an open and substantive discussion!
Thank you to Warsaw Presidential Hotel for hosting us.
