EVENT DETAILS

Terminating employees remotely is becoming more common as remote work keeps increasing. The process is not easy but good preparation for the process, a well-conducted termination meeting and a post-termination follow-up are essential to handle these sensitive situations compassionately and professionally.

On behalf of the AmCham HR Committee, we invite you to a meeting entitled Online Dismissal – Social, Logistical, and Legal aspects – Best Practices and Challenges. Our speakers will be Angelika Makar, Associate at Greenberg Traurig, and Piotr Kuron, LHH consultant in complex restructuring projects. Together with our speakers, we will discuss:

1.    When can you terminate an employee remotely? Face-to-face and online layoffs – risks and challenges;
2.     What documentation and paperwork is required? How to sign documents to comply with legal requirements and how to handle the meeting?
3.     How do you invite an employee to a termination meeting, and who should attend it?
 • What information should be provided?
 • Is recording the meeting legally permissible? How to follow up if the employee hangs up?
 • Managing emotions online: difficult questions during online conversations and silence during meetings;
• What happens after giving notice of termination?
4.    What about exemption from the obligation to perform work?
 • How do the typical support packages look like?
 • How to talk about job search support (career mobility) for terminated employees?

The meeting (in Polish) will take place on Tuesday, May 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Live tickets are limited to 20 people, for those registering live, we ask you to click the live ticket. The Webex link will be sent to all online attendants before the event.
