On Tuesday, the AmCham Real Estate Committee convened to review the latest real estate tax regulations. The session was led by Mateusz Gębarowski and Adam Kałążny from Deloitte.

The meeting focused on the general impact of recent changes in the real estate tax system in Poland. The speakers explored how the new rules affect the categorization of various property types and influence tax calculation procedures. They also referred to ongoing uncertainties and disputes related to the interpretation of the law, especially in the case of more complex or technical assets.

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to the practical challenges of tax compliance. It was noted that many businesses continue to struggle with accurately identifying and reporting taxable assets. The speakers highlighted that errors in tax filings are relatively common, presenting both risks and opportunities, such as the chance to amend earlier missteps or recover excess payments.

The discussion extended to a global perspective on property taxation, analyzing its economic importance and drawing comparisons to systems implemented in other countries. The growing role of digital tools and advanced technologies was also emphasized, showcasing their potential to help businesses streamline asset management and improve the accuracy of tax reporting.

The meeting offered a comprehensive overview of the evolving real estate tax landscape, shedding light on key challenges, areas of uncertainty, and possible directions for future regulatory and technological advancements.

Thank you to our speakers, and Agnieszka Stankiewicz, Co-Chair of AmCham Real Estate Committee & Greenberg Traurig Poland, for moderating the discussion.
