The rising electricity costs and environmental responsibility are a challenge for businesses today. We are all looking for ways to lower electricity costs and if we consider energy cost optimization, decarbonization methods, and ESG reporting, we should learn more about the benefits of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (cPPAs), which was the topic of Wednesday's (29th of January, 2025) meeting of the AmCham Sustainability Committee. cPPAs are long-term electricity contracts between power producers and energy suppliers who then sell it on to end users and despite its huge potential, concerns remain around the risk of electricity prices and supplies covered by the contract during the whole term. Therefore, despite the many benefits of cPPAs, it is important to recognize the complexity of the process and the challenges involved.
