"I would like to see as many U.S. companies involved in defense partnerships as possible. U.S. companies represent technological advancement, and cooperation with them strengthens transatlantic relations and enhances Poland's security," said Konrad Gołota, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets (Ministerstwo Aktywów Państwowych), during the AmCham Defense & Security meeting moderated by Marta Pawlak, AmCham Legal & Public Policy Director.
Ahead of his planned visit to the U.S. in early July, Minister Gołota met with representatives of AmCham member companies to discuss the Defense Industry Development Strategy, cooperation with U.S. defense firms, building regional partnerships with U.S. suppliers, a focus on export, and the development of a defense ecosystem incorporating innovation, education, and regulation. Minister Gołota also addressed the use of defense sector investments as a driving force for the Polish economy.
Significant attention during the meeting was devoted to the forms of partnership with U.S. companies. Joint ventures are not the only model, but when combined with technology transfer, they offer access to funding from the SAFE mechanism.
The conversation also included ways to improve the flow of information related to defense technologies and the role of AmCham as a facilitator in cooperation with the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A.) and other state-owned companies involved in Polish safety and security.
Minister Gołota expressed full openness to engaging with the U.S. business on strategic issues, particularly those involving technology transfer.
