AI in Recruitment: What AI Won’t Do For You?

There is a growing pressure to automate processes in recruitment and people management, and Artificial Intelligence offers data-driven insights, but there are areas where it struggles.
Should we include sports and hobbies in our CVs, what are do’s and don’ts with candidate data, what HR leaders need to know about the AI Act? These and other topics have been discussed at yesterday’s HR Committee’s meeting entitled AI in recruitment: What AI won’t do for you?
AI is often described as a black box. It refers to the AI systems that are often difficult to understand or explain. It means that users can input data and get output, but the specific process that transforms the input into output is not always transparent. So, how should we use algorithms to make sure that they enhance the efficiency of the hiring processes and do not make biased decisions? We need to remember to define AI roles in recruitment, monitor for potential bias at all times, use AI where it makes sense, pay attention to legal and ethical aspects (the AI act will become fully applicable in August next year), and lastly remember that AI is the powerful tool that should support us but not replace.
Thank you to speakers, Krzysztof Denisiuk, Senior Associate Manager, and Maksymilian Gralec, Consultant from Michael Page, and Małgorzata Grzelak and Piotr Zygmunt, Co-Chairs of the AmCham HR Committee, for moderating the discussion (picture made with AI :)
