PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is the EU’s new framework introducing mandatory requirements for the design, composition, documentation, labeling, and recyclability of packaging placed on the EU market.
A key compliance date passed on August 12. As of that date, manufacturers placing on the EU market packaging without the required Declaration of Conformity or technical documentation, or containing PFAS (so-called “forever chemicals”) above permitted limits, constitute a violation of EU law. The next set of regulations in the packaging field is coming. How can businesses prepare and stay compliant?
On behalf of the AmCham Sustainability Committee, we invite you to a concise, practical discussion on what PPWR and other fundamental regulations for the packaging sector will mean for companies in the coming months, and how to stay ahead of regulations in the consumer & retail sector. We will start with an outlook on the key legal requirements regarding sustainability and their impact on businesses in the Polish market, presented by Katarzyna Barańska, Partner at Osborne Clarke. This will be followed by a business perspective from Małgorzata Zaniewska, Country Manager at Avery Dennison, and Bartłomiej Wojdyło, Sustainability Director at CANPACK Group, who will share best practices and lessons learned from preparing for PPWR implementation. We will also discuss the key challenges and opportunities that the new regulation creates for companies and the packaging market in Poland.
