This year our member CANPACK is once again supporting the BNP Paribas Green Film Festival. As part of its involvement in the event, all AmCham members are invited to a special screening of the festival film “Do ostatniego oddechu” (To the Last Breath) at the CANPACK office, followed by a meeting with director Ewa Ewart, during which we will explore the issues raised in the film in greater depth.

The protagonists of Ewa Ewart’s film live in different parts of the world, but they are united by a shared fear of air pollution. “Living in this area is like living in a dark cave. We live in fear for our children and the elderly.” “Life here is a death sentence.” “I have a newborn son, and I wonder what kind of planet I will pass on to him, the next generation, and future generations,” they say. The documentary presents the problem of smog from a global perspective. The filmmakers draw attention to data that is difficult to ignore: as many as 99% of the world’s population breathes toxic air. Every hour, nearly 900 people die worldwide as a result of air pollution, often after years of suffering from diseases directly caused by breathing poisoned air. Air pollution, responsible for nearly eight million premature deaths each year, poses a greater threat than tobacco smoking. The film was produced in Poland, the United Kingdom, Chile, the United States, South Africa, and Pakistan. The filmmakers visited cities and regions most affected by air pollution, revealing its devastating impact.
The film will be screened in Polish with English subtitles. The discussion with director Ewa Ewart will be conducted in Polish and will not be interpreted into English. The number of places available for this event is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We don’t provide parking spots for attendees.
