On February 22, Amcham organized a meeting of the Defense and Security Committee on „National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 overview” at the JLL office. Over one hundred members joined in person and online.
Tony Housh, AmCham Chairman, opened the meeting and reminded us how important global defense strategies, civilian aerospace, and related technologies are. “This is a really good time to have this conversation” he stated, underlining the significance of the security in those difficult times not only for the foreign investors, but also citizens of Poland. He also underlined how valuable, even if difficult, conversations are on how our companies can contribute to our collective security in industrial cooperation, private sector cooperation in the defense sustainment, as well as critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity.
Our panelists, Ron Farkas, Poland-U.S. Operations; Piotr Marczuk, Honeywell; and Tomasz Zakrzewski & Paulina Epler, MBA, Raytheon Technologies, provided valuable insights into the NDAA's impact on the growth of Polish and U.S. defense forces, technology trends, and international partnerships. They also discussed the Polish defense modernization through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.
Understanding the NDAA is essential for strengthening our collective security and advancing defense capabilities in Poland and the U.S. This bill shapes defense procurement processes and fosters transatlantic cooperation, ensuring the safety and security of our nations.
