What comes after COVID-19? Is the climate change an opportunity to recover from the economic slowdown? The AmCham Sustainability Committee hosted today Kamil Wyszkowski, President of the Board of Global Compact Network Poland to discuss challenges and the global perspective of the climate change in the context of the pandemic. COVID-19 changed investment strategies and policy plans for most businesses, but it has not changed the assumptions and plans for good climate policy. The Green Package, announced by the European Union might be a solution to stabilize the European economy and put it on a more sustainable level. The package will be beneficial if politicians and businesses treat the crisis as a basis for smart investment strategies based on the UN sustainable development goals and UN climate policy As Stephen Hawking said (cited at the webinar) “Climate change is one of the great dangers we face, and it’s one we can prevent if we act now”.
