The New CSRD Directive – How will the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Obligations be changed

On September 28, the AmCham Sustainability Committee organized a meeting entitled "The New CSRD Directive – How will the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Obligations be changed". Our speakers were Ms. Małgorzata Szewc, Senior Specialist, Department of Efficiency of Public Expenditure and Accounting, Ministry of Finance, and Dr. Aleksandra Stanek-Kowalczyk, Managing Director of SAPERE, a consulting company. We have presented changes in reporting obligations, the timetable for entry into force, and implications for AmCham members.

The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences in the field of reporting among AmCham members. Some questions from the audience included the foreseen penalty fees, samples of sustainability reporting standards, and third-countries companies' responsibilities regarding sustainability reporting requirements. As it was underlined, the Directive aims to gain comparative data, although it might be a long and challenging process. Companies will have to use a different approach to managing data regarding sustainability requirements, and for better performance, it will have to be included in the company strategy.
