The Effects of COVID-19 on Online Shopping and Industrial Space Demand

On May 28, the AmCham Real Estate Committee organized a meeting on the Effects of COVID-19 on Online Shopping and Industrial Space Demand. Our speakers were Joanna Sinkiewicz, Partner, Head of Industrial & Logistics Agency, Cushman & Wakefield; Mathieu Giguere, Director, Key Accounts & New Business Development, Panattoni; Łukasz Turczyński, Global Accounts & SME Market Sales Director, InPost ,  Artur Łakomiec, CEO of Gemini Polska. and Bolesław Kołodziejczyk, Head of Research & Advisory at Cresa Poland and the Co-Chair of AmCham Real Estate Committee. They discussed about the impact of lockdowns on consumer purchasing patterns which according to Cushman & Wakefield will mean huge and long-lasting change into e-commerce. Some other items for discussion included the impact of a forecasted purchasing power on the retail business, “Bigbox” products and last mile delivery warehouses, key drivers of demand for the Polish industrial market. For the major challenges facing the industrial market post COVID-19, the panelists agreed it would be big data management, huge demand on e-commerce and the development of urban logistics.
