On December 13 AmCham Tax & Financial Services Committee organized a meeting on R&D tax relief with the speakers from KPMG Global R&D Incentives Network, Mr. Kiejstut Żagun, Director, Tax, Grants & Incentives and Mr. Bartosz Igielski, Manager.
Research & Development (R&D) tax relief in Poland was introduced in 2016 into CIT and PIT provisions to encourage entrepreneurs to carry out more R&D work. In terms of expenditure on R&D, Poland is behind most European countries; over the next 10 years, entrepreneurs should increase R&D investment to offset the average European level. The current rules define R&D activities broadly. The right to R&D relief is not reserved exclusively for entrepreneurs engaged in specialized research but is also available to entrepreneurs who work on the implementation of new or existing products or services.
