It was our pleasure to organize our May's Monthly Meeting with guest speaker, the recently appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Maria Wasiak.
Mrs. Wasiak replaced Elżbieta Bieńkowska, who was designated to take over as European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. Minister Wasiak's background is in the infrastructure sector, therefore she is especially focused on transport and infrastructure.
Poland has been allotted a new pool of EU funds amounting to 500 billion PLN to be used by 2020. No other country in Europe has ever received from the EU budget such an amount of money for its development. It is both a great opportunity and challenge said Minister Wasiak during her speech.
How will Poland handle the implementation of these new EU funds? Will these funds make a real impact and contribute to Poland's economic growth, increased employment, and economic modernization? What areas will be supported by these funds? Which projects will be taken as a priority? What are the Ministry's other priorities for the upcoming months?
