The first AmCham’s Monthly Meeting of 2015 featured guest speaker, Joanna Kluzik Rostkowska, the Minister of national education.
For years, AmCham has been concerned about the needs of the labor market versus the skills of graduates entering the labor force. Our Kraków-based AmCham Academy was particularly aimed at this problem. However, the skills needed in life and work are taught much sooner than at University. No one understands this better than Mrs. Kluzik-Rostkowska who was previously Minister of Labor and currently serves as Minister of National Education.
Poland’s education system has received international acclaim recently resulting from Polish students’ PISA scores. Also, the Ministry continues to implement reforms and programs that, at times, involve the business community and certainly should interest us. A survey that we conducted earlier this year showed that many of our member companies have internships and programs aimed at preparing Poland’s students for various career paths. These are just some of the issues and areas of cooperation between our community and the Ministry of National Education.
