Dear Mr. Rewald,
Concerning the Economics Forum held at the InterContinental. I would follow up to say that, while it does not effect the multinationals directly, there certainly is a terrible fear among entrepreneurs here.
I have met with many Polish businesspeople, bankers and advisers recently and they are regularly sweeping their office for listening devices. One has indicated that his software supplier found his phone bugged. Several have indicated that local prosecutors are making them act as informants and if they do not agree they will be hit with a tax audit. Also the use of police to come and question you early in the morning at your home is used as a scare tactic.
I think McCarthyism is alive and well in Poland. Many innocent honest people will be used as fodder in battles between larger interests. While maybe not directly effecting the macro economy, it is a very dangerous development for the political culture of the country.
